When Jurassic Park Meets Schwarzenegger
Did you know that Arnold and Jurassic Park have a history with each other?
“What killed the Dinosaurs?…………The Ice Age” one of the famous phrases from Mr. Freeze which Arnold portrayed in the movie Batman & Robin. Back in 1993, one of the greatest films of all times came out in theatres according to the critics. That movie is Last Action Hero! Just kidding. Even though this is one of my favorite Arnold movies, it actually debuted at the same time Jurassic Park came out in theatres.
I just remember going to both movies at the age of 10 when they were out and I felt those were the best movies ever. Hearing the rumbles in the movie theatres with the THX sound system was incredible. As a kid, what was better than Jurassic Park toys and Last Action Hero toys from Mattel? With the announcement of Jurassic Park, the dinosaurs had a cameo in Last Action Hero. The scene is where Slater is trying to prevent Leo the Fart from passing gas one more time. When kicking Leo the Fart off the crane that had both Slater and the corpse, both landed in black tar. In the backgroud you can see the dinosaurs.
In the original Jurassic Park, Sam Neil played the archaeologist Alan Grant. Just imagine if the casting was a little different. What if Alan Grant was played by Arnold Schwarzenegger? Maybe an archaeologist that used to be in the military or special forces who had a strong interest in the field of dinosaurs. Would the feeling of the original be the same or different? What are you thoughts?
Fast forward to today-- we are in the year 2022. Jurassic World: Dominion has just been released this past week. It has been 29 years since the original movie came out and there has been a large number of sequels that have kept the audiences returning for some more dinosaur fun.
How is this movie related to Schwarzenegger? Well, in fact, one of the main characters Owen Grady is played by Chris Pratt. This is his third time returning back to this character. Chris also was cast in Jurassic World and Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom.
Arnold’s son-in-law, Chris Pratt, just landed the number #1 film this weekend! Jurassic Park: Dominion brought in 143 million for its opening weekend.
According to our correspondent Brandon Krum, he gives the move a 4.5 out of 5 stogies.
Chris Pratt is married to Katherine Schwarzenegger (Arnold’s oldest daughter) since 2019. They now just welcomed a second baby daughter to their family. Eloise Christina Schwarzenegger Pratt born May 21, 2022.
From People.com:
In a recent interview with Jimmy Kimmel, Chris was asked "Can I ask you a question? Please be honest," Kimmel said. "Do you ever have trouble spelling Schwarzenegger?"
After a laugh, Pratt answers, "I've learned now. Yeah, I've learned now."
Kimmel recalled about Katherine's famous dad Arnold Schwarzenegger, "I have to tell you, when he was governor and I used to have to write it a lot when we were doing the monologue, and every time I have to really think about it."
"Yeah," said Pratt, "it's a long name. There are a lot of letters in these children's names. Schwarzenegger is the second middle name. We didn't hyphenate the names, it's a middle name, but I guess maybe that's semantics."
Kimmel then asked, "Did Arnold insist on that? Was he like, 'My name needs to be in there'?" Responded the Terminal List star, "No, no, that was Katherine. She's got his strength, and what mama says goes."
We at TheArnoldFans.com wanted to again congratulate Chris and Katherine on their new baby girl.
