Exclusive Dark Fate Interview with Arnold!
As the cast and filmmakers of Terminator: Dark Fate assemble in Hollywood for the big premiere, the Governator himself granted an exclusive one-on-one interview for his number one fan site, TheArnoldFans! Arnold was in great spirits during our chat, you could tell he's very pumped for everyone to see the new Terminator. Without further ado, here's our interview!
First of all, I want to thank you for the inspiration you give us all, from teaching us about health and fitness to being productive in business and active in evironmental issues and to give something back, like we do at TheArnoldFans for 22 years. As always you keep your promises, and you are back in Terminator: Dark Fate!
How do you feel about Linda Hamilton being equally billed with you in Terminator Dark Fate?
More than happy. I remember when you look at True Lies, Jamie Lee Curtis did not have above the title credit, contractually. I said to Jim Cameron, do you think we should put Jamie Lee Curtis also above the title with me? He said yes, she deserves it, and I said absolutely she deserves it. So we put her above the title. I don’t mind sharing, I don’t have an ego about it at all. Linda deserves it, she is a fantastic actress and she brings so much to the franchise- she is a really extraordinary woman.
What kind of funny mistakes did you do or see on the set might we see on the blu-ray?
I think that’s a question for Tim Miller- he will remember all the screw ups. I only remember the good takes. Cause you screw up all the time anyway, so how do you remember that stuff? Everything is 4 or 5 takes so one is printed and the other 3 or 4 are screw ups.
Would you like to see yourself as a killing robot again in the next movie?
I think it is really attractive to see the Terminator evolve. In the first one he’s a killing machine, in the second one, he’s a protector. In this one, he has grown a conscience and he starts thinking for himself and starts acting human, and has the power to override his own programming. So I think that evolution is really good. I like when we see him have additional things besides just being a Terminator.
Fans love your look with the beard- it looks bad-ass. Do you like having a beard in your personal life?
I just shaved it because I did a movie Kung Fury in Germany where I play the President of the United States. I just kept it off for right now and after the promotional tour, I’ll grow it back. It’s funny that every one of the movies that I do now, they always want me to look older. I say wait, I’m 72 years old, you don’t have to make me look older! They say, no we have to gray your hair a little bit, and we have to put a scar on you… and then they say squint, and put makeup on you, and when you open your eyes you have more wrinkles, and I say, do I really need more wrinkles than I have already? Come on guys!
It’s great that you’re teaming up with Jim Cameron again. Is there any chance to see you in Avatar?
That I don’t know. That’s a question you have to ask Jim, I would never ask him to be in Avatar. You know what I would love to do with Jim Cameron is a western. I guarantee you if Jim Cameron would do a western movie that it would be the number one movie in the history of western movies. If you remember in T2, they’re out there in the desert with the rattlesnake. There’s a certain look to Sergio Leone- he’s very very good with that look, so I think he could do an extraordinary western.
Finally, is Expendables 4 coming?
I myself have nothing to do with it at this point but that can change very quickly. I have not seen it because I have told them that I would never do another one if the story is not written well for me.
Thank you so much Arnold for taking the time to sit down with us, and we'll see you at the premiere!
