Exclusive: Dolph Lundgren on Skin Trade and The Expendables TV Series!

May 8th wasn't just the fantastic date of an all new Arnold Schwarzenegger movie (Maggie), it was also the release date for Skin Trade, Dolph Lundgren's latest action film! What are the odds that two Expendables co-stars would have movies on the same date? Well, I guess the odds are high considering there are so many cool Expendables stars still kickin' ass. TheArnoldFans interviewed Dolph on the red carpet and at a press junket for Skin Trade so in addition to hearing a bit on his new movie, we naturally had to talk about the future of the Expendables (movies and TV).

TheArnoldFans: What was more challenging for you in Skin Trade, the dramatic subject matter or you writing the action, considering you have here one of the best Martial artists n the world (Tony Jaa)?

Dolph Lundgren: "Yeah, it was really hard working with Tony because he beat me up a lot. Well, that's what the scripts required, that I wrote. But I would say the biggest challenge was the emotional part of it and trying to make it entertaining and still moving. So that was really my challenge."

Dolph also tells TheArnoldFans he looks forward to Arnold's Twins sequel and when we enlightened him that Schwarzenegger will soon be doing another Conan film, a rather impressed and surprised 'OH WOW' was delivered from Dolph.

TheArnoldFans: There is a Expendables TV series in the works and we're wondering if you and Terry Crews will be the leads in this TV project?

Dolph Lundgren: "I don't think we will be the leads in the series because I don't think they'd want to pay us (enough). I think they'll make some money if they have some newcomers to do it but then we may show up and do something. And I think Sly would too. He'll probably produce it and he'll probably do something. Sly may show up and give a couple orders: 'Put the tall guy in the back' (he says in a perfect Stallone impression). But maybe."

TheArnoldFans: Would you want Tony Jaa to join you in the next Expendables movie?

Dolph Lundgren: "Well, I think Tony would be great. I'll suggest it but it's all up to Sly. He's the boss. We'll see what he does but it would certainly be fun to work with him (Tony Jaa)."

We also spoke to Skin Trade's Tony Jaa, one of the best current martial artists in the world, who also plays the lightning-fast guy known as "Too Slow" (Kiet) from the Fast & The Furious 7. After we talked about injuries on the set, we brought up Expendables.

TheArnoldFans: Have you ever been ask or have you considered being a good guy or a bad guy in the next Expendables movie?

Tony Jaa: Laughs. "I can't talk. I can't talk about it."

Tony's response led us to believe he is in negotiations for Expendables 4 and has been asked not to give any comments.

Skin Trade Plot: Detective Nick Cassidy (Dolph Lundgren) heads to Bangkok to hunt down Viktor Dragovic (Ron Perlman) and destroy his human trafficking network; Nick killed Dragovic's son in a shootout during a sting operation on the New Jersey docks, and Dragovic responded by attempting to kill Nick and his family. Nick miraculously survived the brutal attack that destroyed his family; with nothing but vengeance to live for, Nick smashes his way through the Bangkok underworld in search of the elusive Dragovic. Meanwhile, FBI Agent Eddie Reed (Michael Jai White) is sent in to bring Nick home even as Thai detective Tony Vitayakui (Tony Jaa) questions the motives and methods that have brought Nick across the globe to Thailand. As the crossfire between all sides grows more and more deadly, Nick has to determine who his true allies are.

SKIN TRADE was written by Gabriel Dowrick, Steven Elder, and Dolph Lundgren and directed by Ekachai Uekrongtham.  The film is 95 minutes and Rated R for violence and language.  Magnet Releasing will release SKIN TRADE on Ultra VOD on April 23, 2015 and in theaters on May 8, 2015.
