Who's ready for the onslaught of Terminator Genisys merchandise? We certainly are and Skydance Productions aims to please all types of collectors. There's toys, collectibles, board games, books, clothing, video games and more so buckle in and get ready for the big merchandise ride!
First up, NECA Toys thrills all with their big New York Comic Con announcement that they are not only doing a new T2 sculpt along with Commando Arnold figures, they're also being toy heroes by producing several Terminator Genisys figures! We can surely expect a new T-800 endoskeleton, Sarah Connor and several Schwarzenegger models with various ages. TheArnoldFans suggested to NECA that they make the "laundry day" (nothing clean), nude 1984 Arnold figure. Let's see if their creative team can figure out a way to get past the toy censors.
Next, Mega Bloks partners with Skydance Productions to produce Terminator Genisys collector construction sets. Mega Blocks will give dads some great playtime with our kids (the next generation of Terminator fans).
Hoy Toys will produce 1/6th scale life-like figures based on Arnold and his Terminator Genisys co-stars. Sideshow Collectibles will be your US Distributors for these highly detailed and heavily accessorized Hot Toys figures. But if you want large life-sized props and replicas, look toward Chronicle Collectibles! Chronicle even tells TheArnoldFans that they're doing life-sized Schwarzenegger Genisys statue and props!
Now for some game news: Glu Mobile announced that it is working with Skydance Productions to create a free-to-play mobile Terminator game timed to coincide with the release of Terminator Genesis. The game is scheduled for release in the summer of 2015 and will be available across all major mobile platforms.
“Terminator is one of the most iconic action brands in entertainment and we are pleased to be the first to bring the franchise to mobile as a free-to-play game,” said Niccolo de Masi, Glu CEO. “We look forward to offering our high-energy, action packed gameplay to the millions of Terminator fans worldwide.”
"There aren't many mobile or free-to-play games that offer compelling action or true excitement, but Glu's titles have proven that it's possible to deliver both,” said David Ellison, Skydance CEO. “We're excited to be working with them to design a game that will let gamers experience head-to-head combat in the Terminator universe."
Also, there will be a big 9 x 11 inch coffee table book! The Art and Making of Terminator Genisys ill be published by Insight Editions and will be over 160 pages! Go behind the scenes of one of the most anticipated movies of 2015 with The Art and Making of Terminator Genisys. Capturing the complete creative journey behind the making of the film, the book will also look at the daunting challenges that the team faced in creating a new installment in one of the best-loved sci-fi sagas in cinema history. The Art and Making of Terminator Genisys will make extensive use of concept art and unit photography from the production, balancing an in-depth and satisfying narrative with a striking visual account of the making of the film. In other Terminator merchandise news, Nemesis Now will unveil its new line of Terminator 2 products in February. Nemesis is doing 3D collectibles of Terminator 2 and will include mugs, clocks, bags, journals and boxes. Nemesis Now will not be doing products with Arnold's likeness but collectors can expect lots of T-800s and T-1000s!
