Schwarzenegger Vs Zombies in His New Film “Maggie”!
So not only have I been campaigning and tweeting for years for Arnold to fight zombies, I’ve even been writing a zombie script in which I was going to propose to The Oak. For almost two months I’ve spent some serious time writing about Arnold and his daughter, written for Summer Glau (sexy Terminator chick from the Sarah Connor Chronicles), fighting hordes of zombies. Unfortunately for me, just one week before I was ready to submit my fully developed outline, I see that Arnold has signed onto a different zombie film titled "Maggie". D’oh! I’ll keep my plot a secret for now in case I pursue my script, which has some pretty ballsy action sequences. But although I wasted a lot of time, I was able to take a step back and realize, hey, Arnold is still going to star in a zombie film, which was one of my ultimate desires to see my hero do battle with the undead.
But the big question is, will this be a zany zombie comedy, a dramatic horror film or a comedy taken seriously? From the sounds of it, we’re not getting a horror film but it might be a wacky comedy. This would not be what the fans want as we’d all really want to see Arnold slash the undead with as many unique weapons as possible! But if it’s a comedy taken seriously, with an eerie soundtrack, amazing zombie corpses, and with a serious approach, this will work just fine.
Maggie, based on the Black List script by John Scott 3, is set at a time when a “walking dead” virus which has spread across the country. Schwarzenegger will portray the father on a journey to help his daughter come to terms with her infection as she slowly becomes a zombie.
The film will be directed by commercial director Henry Hobson and production will commence this fall right after Arnold's small part in Expendables 3.
Silver Reel and Lotus Entertainment have partnered with Silverlining Media Group and Gold Star films to produce and finance “Maggie.” Schwarzenegger will also produce with Pierre-Ange Le Pogam, Matt Baer, Trevor Kaufman, Colin Bates and Joey Tufaro. Bill Johnson, Jim Seibel, Ara Keshishian, Hubert Gibbs, Claudia Bluemhuber and John Scott 3 are executive producing.
Chloe Moretz had been in negotiations last year to play the zombie lead but she is not appearing due to scheduling issues.
Let’s hope Maggie is not a zany comedy with unthreatening zombies (dumb, blue face-paint) and a corny soundtrack. We need to see Arnold fight Jeff Dawn-created zombie hordes. We want our zombies decayed, rotted and completely scary! This film could easily have potential to be one of Arnold’s best films or if it’s a silly comedy, this could be pure crap. Please, Henry Hobson, PLEASE do a serious approach! Let’s pray for something seriously wicked!
