Arnold May Star in a New "Toxic Avenger" Movie!
It's not Doc Savage, but according to Variety Arnold is reportedly in talks with producers of another super hero film: "The Toxic Avenger!" While he would not be portraying the title character "Toxie," he is said to be interested in a starring role. The director/writer is Steve Pink, who directed "Hot Tub Time Machine" and helped write the John Cusak films "Grosse Pointe Blank" and "High Fidelity."
The original film (1984) was set in Tromaville, New Jersey - a small American town, terrorized by criminals. Among the residents of Tromaville is Melvin, a nerdy emaciated janitor at the local health club. A gang of thugs devise a cruel hoax that goes horribly wrong as Melvin is cast through a third story window into a vat of hazardous toxic waste. However, an unexpected metamorphosis takes place. As the chemicals take hold of his body, Melvin turns into the Toxic Avenger, doer of good, and brutal mauler of evil.
What do you guys think- any Toxie fans out there? Sounds like this might be going the action/comedy route, no doubt playing up the campiness of the original. Have a look at the 1984 trailer below.
