Let's Party in Florida for "Arnold Day" #8!
Every year they are asked about how Arnold Day started and every year they are excited to tell the story. It all began eight years ago in the comfort of a local pizzeria in Orlando, Florida known as Lazy Moon. There, two friends by the names of Ryan and Vinnie sat on a pair of bar stools with a goal. To watch Arnold movies on a 19 inch T.V. and a VCR while drinking beer all day. A pretty simple concept which has now turned into upwards of a hundred people coming from around the state of Florida to take part in the festivities every year at Lazy Moon. With a few changes that is. They have moved on from the VCR and now have a giant screen that the movies are projected on to accommodate all of the new fans.
The past few years, the celebration has gotten bigger and better with people bringing their friends, family, and fellow fans. They bring party hats, balloons, and even make their own Arnold Day shirts. One of our favorite guests includes an Arnold impersonator who has been known to show up as John Matrix, the "Governator", and even Julius Benedict from Twins. He hangs out, drinks beer, eats pizza… oh yeah, and cuts his cake with the sword from Conan the Barbarian. Not to mention he will say literally ANY Arnold quote so well that, after a few brews, you might actually think its him. If you aren't careful, you might even get caught up in one of his push-up contests.
This will actually be the last Arnold Day to be celebrated at Lazy Moon's current building but does not at all mean the end of Arnold Day as they know it. In fact, they will be celebrating next year in Lazy Moon's new location which will still be in Orlando. This will also be the last year that they won't have a new Schwarzenegger flick to show because next year we should have not one, but two new Arnold movies!!! Since the early 70's, Arnold Schwarzenegger has been one of the greatest action heroes to ever live and there seems to be no end in sight. Long live Arnold!
