James Cameron’s 1994 blockbuster hit, starring Arnold Schwarzenegger, came out in 1994 but you can still visit a filming location at The Westin Bonaventure Hotel & Suites in Downtown Los Angeles. In True Lies, Arnold plays Harry Tasker working as an undercover computer salesman who actually works as a secret agent. In the movie, one of the main locations in the story was in Washington DC. To help celebrate the current filming of FUBAR, a spiritual successor to True Lies, TheArnoldFans staff decided to stop by the famous location where Harry is on a horse chasing the main terrorist, Salim Abu Aziz, who is riding on a motorcycle. You can visit this hotel and practically nothing has changed as you see it on film. The Hotel is not located in Washington DC, but in Los Angeles, California.
The Westin Bonaventure Hotel & Suites in Downtown Los Angeles. 404 South Figueroa Street, Los Angeles, CA 90071.
When approaching the entrance from the parking deck. you are visited with a poster hall of fame of other movies that have been filmed at this location. These movies also include In The Line of Fire, Heat, Hard to Kill and Forget Paris to name a few.
When we arrived at the main area lobby, we saw two elevators. Thanks to our cell phones, we were able to match up where Harry is in the lobby in the water on the horse.
Next to the elevator, you see a plaque saying “This is One Of The Two Elevators used in filming “True Lies” starring Arnold Schwarzenegger September 1993”.
