Well, aren’t we all feeling OLD today! Can you believe it’s been twenty five years since the release of Terminator 2: Judgement Day on July 3rd, 1991! This brings us cause for a monumental worldwide party so join us in the fun as we celebrate all day long on Facebook and Twitter.
UPDATE: Arnold just gave this message:
Today is the 25th anniversary of Terminator 2. I'll always be proud of the movie and the fantastic team that worked on it, starting with my great friend Jim Cameron and the cast and all the way down to hair and makeup, catering, crafty, transpo, and the whole team. Thank you guys for the incredible memories.
Several key players involved in 1991’s Terminator 2: Judgment Day give TheArnoldFans the exclusive on their feelings toward the film’s 25th anniversary and their excitement for the film to be re-released (for the first time in 3D) in China in October. I have high hopes that StudioCanal brings this 3D treatment WORLDWIDE after they see the success in China. Though it wouldn't hurt for fans to let them know they want it.
"I am very excited that fans of the original movie and a new generation of moviegoers, will have a whole new way to enjoy, what I think is a fantastic film,” Robert Patrick (the T-1000) begins to tell TheArnoldFans. “To reimagine this film in a 3D form should be spectacular and I cannot wait to view it with my family!"
"I'm excited to hear about the re-release of T2 in 3D,” Brad Fiedel, film composer of The Terminator and Terminator 2 Judgment Day, tells TheArnoldFans. “It was such a cutting edge film in so many ways. I did my best to create music that supported all the amazing visuals and the epic story that James Cameron created. It was an interesting musical challenge to support the change in the Terminator character that Arnold portrayed like no one else could have. Using warmer sounds and a bigger more orchestral design I hoped to engage people's hearts with this cyborg that was such a cold villain in the first film and became a hero in the second. I think T2 will be very exciting to see in the 3D format!”
“With Jim’s pioneering push into the world of 3D, this will be an exciting must see,” begins John Rosengrant, who headed the special effects team with Stan Winston. “One the greatest action Sci-Fi adventures of all time, I’m very proud to have been part of that film, and really look forward to seeing it again in 3D.”
Jeff Dawn, the Make-up Department Head on T1, T2 & T3 and Academy Award winner for Best Make-up on T2, also gives TheArnoldFans a statement.
"As Cameron has overseen the 3D transformation, I'm sure it will be incredible,” declares Dawn. “I hope it will have a big domestic and international release. I'll for sure be seeing it."
"If you’ve never seen it, this’ll be the version you want to see and remember,” says director James Cameron.
This year marks the 25th anniversary of Terminator 2, but since the system for screening imported films was not developed in 1991 when the T2 was released, the epic Schwarzenegger film never had a chance to have a theatrical release in China. This 3D rerelease will be the first theatrical experience of the film in China.
Arnold Schwarzenegger, the film's lead actor, is said to travel to China later this fall to promote the rerelease. The Terminator franchise is heavily loved in China and as a result, Terminator: Genisys grossed $112.8 million there alone.
Finally, If you’re heading to San Diego Comic Con this July, stop by the NECA booth to see their all NEW T2 prototypes honoring the 25th anniversary. Other booths to visit for Terminator goodness will be Sideshow Collectibles and Chronicle Collectibles. I will be at Comic Con bringing you all the latest Arnold and Terminator news from the showroom floor via Twitter and Facebook!
