Splendid Film has picked up the rights to distribute The Expendables 4 overseas having previously worked in the same capacity for The Expendables trilogy as well as Arnold's recent films The Last Stand, Sabotage and zombie drama Maggie. The Expendables 4 German distribution is certainly a lucrative deal for Splendid Film as The Expendables trilogy has made over $30 million at the German box office alone.

Full casting is not confirmed, however, according to The Hollywood Reporter, Sylvester Stallone, Jason Statham and Arnold Schwarzenegger are in!

The signs are perhaps good that we may receive an R rated Expendables film in cinemas as when Crave Online interviewed Sylvester Stallone in 2014 regarding if he thought that a PG-13 rating was appropriate for The Expendables 3 and if it had in fact reduced the potential audience instead of appealing more to action film fans.

"Absolutely, unequivocally yes," Stallone agreed. "I believe it was a horrible miscalculation on everyone's part in trying to reach a wider audience, but in doing such, diminish the violence that the audience expects. I'm quite certain it won't happen again."

Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson responded to a question within his Reddit AMA in 2014 asking if he wants to star in a film within The Expendables franchise.

"I don't want to be on their team and be buddies with them,"
The Rock begins. "Fuck that noise. I want to hunt every single one of them down and tell them to "send your soul to heaven cause your ass is mine.""

The Expendables 4 is expected to be the final Expendables film and is set for a 2018 release.
