Always one to surprise, Arnold Schwarzenegger will be starring in another film no one could have predicted. While in China filming his cameo in Viy 2, the sequel to Russia’s biggest box office hit, Arnold struck a deal to star in another Chinese film "The Guest of Sanxingdui.” Schwarzenegger will producer and be the lead actor of the 200 million U.S. dollars budgeted film which is described as "a 3D production featuring Hollywood technology and oriental culture.” This sounds like it’s possible that the film could be 3D rendered, either like Avatar or in an all new style heavy on Chinese flare and symbolism. On the other hand, this could simply be nothing more than an expensive and beautiful documentary with Arnold as our guide and narrator. We will certainly keep all the fans updated as we hear more information.
"The Guest of Sanxingdui” is about the the Sanxingdui Ruins and the Shu Kingdom that suddenly disappeared 3,000 years ago, located in Guanghan City, southwest China's Sichuan Province.
During the visit, Schwarzenegger said friendly hellos to other visitors and signed autographs for his fans. Arnold was especially taken by a bronze statue covered with a very thin gold mask. He wondered how people who lived thousands of years ago were able to make it. During the press conference, it was said that the film would be made as an international story in order to introduce a global audience to the culture of Sanxingdui. Schwarzenegger became an ambassador of the prehistoric Sanxingdui ruins that will feature in the film. James Cameron's team will manage the film's post-production work. The Guest of Sanxingdui will begin production in March 2017 and be released in 2019.
