The Comic Con PREDATOR Blu-ray 3D Experience Was Anything But “Ugly’!

This was one of the best years ever for a Schwarzenegger fan to attend comic con. There was a fan-screening of a new Arnold film, a booth with Arnold-related promo items, a Conan poster by Mondo and several new Terminator and Predator exclusive toys. But my favorite of all of these booths throughout the entire Comic Con showroom was the PREDATOR Blu-ray 3D booth experience!

Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment brought an iconic franchise to San Diego. Schwarzenegger’s name was all around this jungle-themed booth environment and convention-goers were given 3D promotional glassed to sample the 1987 film conversion. I tried on the glasses myself and those Predator alien mandible teeth really pop!

Fans entered booth #3528 to have their photo taken with state-of-the-art cameras courtesy of 3D Systems. Their image was then used to make them the victim as a customized figurine was created using 3D Systems 3D printing technology that features the Predator alien holding the fans’ severed head! The figurine was only available to fans that purchased this PREDATOR Blu-ray 3D, available exclusively for pre-order at Comic-Con for $49.99. Below is a screenshot of my own head that was scanned which will soon be sent to me in the mail!

For serious collectors (such as myself), Comic Con fans could also pick up this limited edition Predator head for $129.99 (which also includes the figure and the 3D film). I bought number 4 out of 500 and these were all sold out within 4 days.

130.00 might sound like a lot of money at first but if you figure the 3D film is around 35.00 and the figure was worth 25.00, then you really only spent about 70.00 for the actual collector head. This Predator head was beautifully sculpted and the mask is even removable! The sculpting and quality on it was amazing and as nice as a 300.00 Sideshow Collectibles piece. I can’t praise this limited collector’s head enough. It was the best money I ever spent at Comic Con for an exclusive!

Attendees also participated in the “Hunt the Predator” challenge. Fans who found the Predator, took a photo and uploaded it to their social networks with the official hashtag “#HUNTthePREDATOR” received a front of the line pass at the Predator 3D booth for an exclusive 3D printed figurine and also got one of two different Predator T-shirts!

The PREDATOR Blu-ray 3D will be shipped to all those that pre-order at Comic-Con when it is officially released in December. The custom figurine will be shipped following the convention very soon so if you ordered one, keep a look out in your mailbox and keep a sharper look-out in up in the trees. “ I see you.” We can’t wait to see the full PREDATOR 3-D film this December. Gooo, get to da Christmas shopping!
