Hey, how would you like to enroll in a place called "The Schwarzenegger Institute"? Maybe you'll take classes on falling down waterfalls, proper minigun shooting technique, speaking with the highest levels of confidence and inspiration on any topic (in an Austrian accent), and of course, pumping up for at least 15 minutes every day? Well, that is not quite what the Schwarzenegger Institute for Public Policy is about. Just announced by Arnold, it will actually be a think tank based at USC that Arnold donated $20 million towards to get started. Its mission is to explore "post-partisan" politics and global challenges. Here are some quotes from Arnold about it.
This institute is dedicated to promoting a new era of post-partisanship, where solutions are the result of intelligent and civil discussion between people with deeply held principles who understand the need to work through their disagreements to achieve real solutions.
How do you negotiate when you have two parties, how do you bring the ideology of those two together to come up with something that is beneficial to all people and not get stuck on ideology?
When you think back of everything I've done — body building, training people, writing about diet and food supplements and promoting movies and entertainment — I've always been interested in making sure other people can benefit from my experience.
We think this is an amazing thing that Arnold is doing, and it's trying to address and change the things we all hate about politics these days- the constant bickering and gridlock in both parties that means it's hard to actually get things done. So while you won't have a class titled "The Art of the Action One-Liner", you may be fortunate enough if you're at USC to have The Terminator as your professor, as Arnold has officially been appointed a USC professor of public policy and will start lecturing later this year. Be sure to let us know if you're taking Arnold's class!
