Dan writes: Hi ArnoldFans, as fan of the Terminator movies and a huge fan of Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles, I thought about doing a Terminator costume. The problem is that Terminators try to look like us until they take some damage... there's not much of a costume beyond some Arnie sunglasses. I wanted to be able to create that injured cyborg look without a lot of time spent fussing with those makeup kits and semi-realistic prosthetics that you can get at the local mall costume shop.

As a kid I always loved temporary tattoos (I think most kids do). I looked around and couldn't find anything like what I wanted so I decided to see if I could create something. Part of my 9 to 5 is graphic design, so I have some good experience with Photoshop. For reasearch I had to look over lots of photos of actual wounds... not the best part of the project, but it did give me a good idea of how they looked. The hardest part was the skin right around the wound. Making a bloody red blotch is easy, but blending it into your real skin is the tough part. Of course the thing that really sets this apart is not the wound, but the silver metal underneath. Without it, you're just someone who go beat up. When people see that silver metal under there, they know you're a Terminator.
