Gillinator’s Salvation Report: Ratings and CG Mock-up!

Hello again, Arnold fans! While we had another slow week for substantial news about T4, I still rustled up some interesting items in my underground Judgment Day bunker. First, there's an interview with McG posted on SuicideGirls.com. It was done right after his Comic Con panel, so the topics aren't new, but there are some unique kinds of responses from McG. When asked about how he's handling the movie's rating, he responds:

If it just comes down to oops, there's too much blood on the head of the Marcus character and that's what pops you into an R, I don't think that makes the film infinitely more valuable so I could back to a PG-13. If they want to get rid of, "Oh, you can't have T-600s carrying mini-guns," well then no, it's an R because there are certain things that are part of the iconographic nature of the film.

Now, on the movie rating debate, I'm OK with him not worrying about shooting for one rating or the other, and I agree when he argues that The Dark Knight was a kick-ass no compromise PG-13 movie. However the flaw in that is the Batman movies have always been PG-13, so that's not really a big deal in that franchise. Terminator has always been R, and I for one want it to stay there. I'm glad to hear he won't let those bad studio guys take away the T-600's miniguns, but it concerns me when he talks about compromising on showing too much blood. To me, that's just as important in showing the visceral horrors of the future war. Die Hard 4 was made PG-13 in part by hardly showing any blood, and it definitely felt less Die Hard-like because of it.

When asked point-blank if the film ends on a cliffhanger:

The film does indeed end on a cliffhanger.

Not a huge surprise considering they want to make 2 more movies, but still nice to get confirmation. Start speculating-- what will the T4 cliffhanger ending be?

Now we have to have some images, and there are no new official ones, so how about some cool CG fan-art? TAFs' Brandon Krum found this image as part of an awesome entry in a Tribute to Stan Winston contest at CGISociety.com. The artist is Faraz Mobin.

Note that the Salvation title was added in by Brandon. We just thought this was a great example of how accurate a CG likeness of Arnold could look (with color and full texture added of course). When they do it in T4, it will probably just be Arnold's face, which will also be the toughest to get right. They should hire this guy to help!
