Gillinator’s Salvation Report: The Meaning of Salvation!
A Weekly Roundup of T4 News and Rumors!

So we already know the big Terminator Salvation news this week, that Arnold met with Christian Bale (along with Bale's wife, Maria, and the Schwarzen-daughters). Some sites reported incorrectly that the meeting was "on the set of T4" which was totally wrong, but it still gives us fans more hope that Arnold is participating in the movie. Here are some additional photos and my exclusive scientific interpretation of what they are saying in each one:

Bale: Honey, can you just turn just a bit to make sure the paparrazi capture what a nice ass you have?	Bale: Perfect! Now Arnold why did you decide to drop by in my secret green-tarped parking lot lair?
Arnold: Well, Mr. John Connor, I was sent from the future to be the "Salvation" for the new Terminator movie, because I watched it, and if we don't do something, it will bomb because I'm not in it.	Bale: (Doesn't he know Dark Knight broke all kinds of records this year?) Yeah, that sounds great Arnold, what did you have in mind?
Arnold: Well, as you see I have this green screen shirt on so you can just overlay Roland Kickinger's younger, pumped up body onto me, and I will still be my original Terminator model. Pretty good huh? Let's shoot it now!	Bale: ... Arnold: Hey, Baley, what are you doing?
Bale: Sorry, mate, I was just distracted by your daughter touching my elbow. She's quite a dish you know? Arnold: Well, what do you expect with these fantastic Austrian genes? Christina: Dad, cut it out, you're so embarrassing! Arnold: Sorry pumpkin. (to Bale): Hey, keep staring at her, and I'll have to crush you with this hand, OK? Bale: Right then.	Christina: Yeah, I swear, I totally touched Batman! Arnold: Good, well I hope that McGenie got the shots he needs with my green screen shirt, I'll send him my bill of a jet fighter and a space shuttle. Now let's power-handshake while dis guy beside me tries to look manly doing ny Predator grip. Bale: Uh, OK. You do know this isn't the set and those aren't T4 cameramen? Arnold: Ha! Good one. Fantastic. Seriously, make the shuttle a big one, OK? I'm putting in a launch pad at the governor's mansion.
Maria: Goodbye short lady, you must tell me where you get your purple shawls.

There was a story at MTV.com a couple weeks ago that had an interesting quote from McG about the significance of Terminator Salvation's title:

“Even though we may sin, ultimately we deserve a second chance,” McG echoed.

But just as “Judgment Day” also alluded to the choice a Terminator must ultimately make, “Salvation” similarly alludes to the actions of one specific character, McG said.

“Sometimes life is worth living when you make sacrifices so others may benefit,” he teased.

So obviously someone makes a sacrifice in T4 for the "salvation" of others. This has been a common theme from the other movies-- Kyle Reese sacrifices himself for Sarah in T1, Miles Dyson and Arnold's terminator sacrifice themselves in T2, Arnold does it again in T3 (though not nearly as poignantly). For the sacrifice in T4 to be effective, it must be a human; terminators sacrificing themselves has been done enough, and McG alludes to a human with "life is worth living". We know it can't be Kyle or John (yet), though we do know John will eventually get killed by Arnold's model as he says in T3. So maybe it's Marcus or Kate. We don't know enough about Marcus yet to guess what his arc will be, but I could definitely see Kate Connor sacrificing herself, which also give John a more personal reason to keep fighting-- revenge!
